Hi I keep following dead threads or coming up with confusion after searching. I hate to ask as its bantered around a lot however has anyone bought a dice lately. If it works well do you mind passing on a link. Or have one to sell. For 2012 Volvo XC60.

Much appreciated.

Greg

Good question, I'm dithering about buying one,I think generally the chinabay ones are fine although you can buy ready to go laptops from guy in UK but I'd persivere with installing my own with help from here.

I've forgotten any I've read are good but think getting latest incarnation available is the go.

I'm sure others will chime in.

Be great to hear what people advice is on purchasing VIDA as well as have been going to take the plunge on a VIDA and DICE setup for a while. Need to do a SUM calibration on he S60R as had new 4C struts a few years ago and was never done. See some come up on Gumtree from time to time but nothing on there at the moment. Couple on eBay between $235 and $333 (Aust, Hong Kong and the US) and a fair bit cheaper from China but would go for one that works reliably any day over saving a few bucks so be good to get the lowdown if anyone has had recent experience.

should be sub $150 delivered to your door via ebay

This bloke delivers worldwide I believe, he's a good lad, full working set-ups, you'll have to message him on face ache though

This guys reviews are pretty good although 270 pounds or $530 AUD without shipping is pricey. It does look like a solution that will just work though. Can't seem to see if he just sells VIDA and DICE without the laptop. Gota be someone out there that has bought one of these or the ebay set up's recently?

I'll buy any of the eBay ones.

I agree sort of think this full set up idea is getting out of control. I have a couple of spare laptops laying around that may work. I keep turning towards the new nano version at $100 form here in Australia but dont know enough about it. Still confused really......may just get a ebay version and see who has the best sales pitch in regards to inferior boards etc.

So I found on another site that someone had bought through here.

They seem to have a lot of support documents.

Also talk about the Nano...tempted.

I have decided to get one fro this guy. He pre-tests them and can provide a full plug and go setup if your willing to pay. I am just getting the Dice. Not cheap at 115 pounds but worth it for the guarantee it works.

I have my Dice connected and up and running.

I went with the same guy from the UK in the end, great to deal with and the system works -https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=253191&page=72.

It isn't a DICE unit but a VCX Nano unit by VXDIAG and works really well. Running VIDA through a Win 7 Pro Virtual Machine on a Win 10 Laptop and works great. Already done loads of stuff and as well as SUM Calibration. Makes me wonder why I didn't do this 2 Volvo's ago.

I ordered a VCX Nano from AliExpress a few weeks ago for about $80. I hope if it ever arrives I am as happy with it.

Ok, same question....but different! All of the Vida Dice that I've found run Software version 2014D, which I believe only works on Volvo's up to 2016. (https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2017-Newest-VIDA-DICE-2014D-for-VOLVO-Full-Chip-Scanner-OBD2-Diagnostic-Tool-/232287537942)

Has anyone found a unit that works on current Volvo's??

I've a 2019 XC60 and wish to permanently disable the Stop/start, I've downloaded the VDash from (https://d5t5.com/article/vdash-volvo-diagnostic) and need a Dice that will work with my vehicle.

Now with all that said, am I getting the DICE confused with the VIDA? Is the Vida the software the seller is talking about (2014D)?? Will the DICE unit work with the VDASH software from D5T5?

Cheers and thanks.

Rod

DICE is the hardware - the device that plugs into your car and computer.

VIDA is Volvo's software for diagnostics, parts lists, repair procedures, etc. 2014D is the last version that installs on a computer. Later versions are web based.

VDASH2 is also software from another company that reads fault codes and can do some programming - some free, some things you can pay for.

DICE works with both VIDA and VDASH2.
