Not at all.
I paid $2300 to have the work done by the shop.
I provided and paid for the bearings and lower conversion kit which was about $240. I wanted to source my own parts.
I also bought another head from a forum member which had the larger exhaust valves, the IPD cam and pulley. This was also serviced, as there was some slight leakage on the valves and the builder wanted to measure everything which was reassuring. (Inc in the 2300 price + the head cost which was about $700)
So a little over budget as these things get but Im happy as it will last a lifetime. Ive also discovered a few other parts that need replacing as you do with these project’s. Mainly engine mounts, prob shaft bearing and so on so some more money to spend. Needs filters, oil, coolant etc which adds more. Im sure theres going to be other things!
I would have done a lot of work myself but just dont have the space to do it properly (cleanly! I live near the ocean and sand gets everywhere you dont want it with pulling apart engines!)
One could definitely do it cheaper with a garage etc.
