Found a bit of paperwork for the TE this evening. Looks like it originally came from London. Then shipped to ACT.

Update!

Stripping of TE is coming along nicely.

I'm going to move on the mechanical side of thinks next.

The idea will be to transfer what I need for the 164e Manual over from the 164te parts car.

On first inspection there seems to be slight differences under the bonnet that do not allow to make a like for like transfer.

I will add pictures with notes tonight in the hope that someone can guide me.

With a bit of luck I might have it running by the end of the long weekend!

Pic 5 is the AC compressor and pic 4 is the AC receiver drier. The TE has aircon which the manual one doesn't.

Excellent thanks, that makes sense.

So I'll just install everything as the TE and upgrade to AC.

Just have to make sure I maintain all interal AC parts as well.

Tip: as soon as you break an aircon connection - tape it up to seal it. When everything is out of the car - reconnect all of the hoses so that the system is complete again. Dirt is the enemy of the A/C.

TBH I'd be surprised if there is any gas pressure remaining.

Morning,

The 164e is now mechanically complete. I've left the ac off for now, but will install later.

Bought a new battery and tried to start. Turns over but doesn't fire.

Fuel gauge reads empty, completely empty. So I added 7 litres of new fuel I had in the garage. Gauge didn't move and still no joy.

Checked spark plugs, they are old and a little bit bit dirty/oily so cleaned them up, still nothing. I suppose fuel pump would be the best option to check?

Not sure where is it located?

Is there a process of elimination or common problems with the 164?

I'm not sure how long it has been sitting but I'm going to assume a long time without being started.

I could replace spark plugs and get the fuel pump of the TE?

As always, thanks for the advice it is appreciated. Although I didn't manage to get it started yesterday, I am really enjoying the process of trying and restoring using the parts car.

Parts cars was a brilliant move, would have been lost without it.
