  • 92 volvo 240 Door skin Blue Cloth

Cannot open drivers door because rod attached to door button has broken from internal lever.Because door is closed I will need to destroy existing skin in order to remove it and gain access to internal workings.

The whole car is basically sound  and another option is to get rid of it (dead cheap!!)instead of doing any work on it.

Acquisition of the required part could sway me to keep it.

Getting door trim sufficiently off without significant damage is entirely possible with a tool with a 90 degree end to help pop the clips. To improve access you can take the b pillar trim off along with the trim along the top of the sill. You may get stuck a bit at the top and it hangs over two steel tabs on the door. With a tug they will bend out of the way and can just be straightened back up after.

Try to remove as per @VolvoHordz or cut an access hole and repair. Worst case scenario I do have a wreck with good blue cloth interior trim, but I have 4 running 240's with the same interior so I'd prefer not to sell it. It was a very common interior on late 80's 240's so worst case if you damage it trying to remove another will be able to be sourced.
