These are black, not the usual 240 untreated alloy silver or polished stainless.
Were the 242GT bumpers, trim molding, etc painted black, anodised black, or power coated black from factory?

Body trim is painted satin black

The black paint on parts of mine is showing silver in places, especially around the alloy rear window frames. Could be time for a powder coating....
You can't powder coat something which is still attached to rubber etc can you, because there's some heat involved?
Or is that wrong?
Because if you pull them apart, will the rubber stay intact & it'll all go back together again?

The bumper rubbers on commandos (11, 12) attach to the alloy bumper (1) with gal steel attachment plates (15) and a series of Philips head screws (16) on the inside of the bumper. I don't see any reason the rubber would go out of shape if one keeps the rubbers on the attachment plates.
PS: To make it all nizze again, all you have to do is unscrew the attachment plates, keep the rubbers on them, and then be amazed at how much lighter the alloy bumpers are as you take 'em to the powder coater.
I was more thinking about the alloy window frames you mentioned … of course, in reading it back, you may only have been throwing that in as a comparison & not intending to get those frames powder-coated. ?
Yeah, separating the rear vent window alloy frames from the glass may be problematical.
I've never done it. Or know anybody who has. (Free free to chime in if you have....)
I don't know if they supplied the rear vent window as glass only back when they were spare parts, or supplied it as a complete unit ready to fit in a car - all I know is I never delivered one when I worked for a dealer. It was more likely than not sold as a complete unit.
Going to a 91+ front windscreen seal eliminates the problems there. Separating the rear windscreen trim from the rubber seal is easy; getting it back in? Well that's another story, but Redwood Chair knows the secret.
