  • [closed] Full set of new B234F head bolts wanted

The dealer wanted ridiculous prices for the 7 long bolts and the 3 shorter bolts - $42 per bolt? Oh, please. Not.

I have had some on order from the US for less than half the price, but it's been a month now and they're still on back order.

Is there a local solution?
Why do you need new?
They are not TTY and as such are safe to be re-used a minimum of 3 times in general
It's an issue with owning a high-millage used car with a dubious service history - one never knows how many times they've been reused.

Plus this car was sold with a spare head.

And since the head gasket is already blown....
If they have sealed the 2 head halves together with RTV then its been apart before, if it was selead using volvo goop then it was never apart

Blown HG == used water rather then coolant or was overheated

Any way you look at it, if the 7 long bolts are exactly the same length and the 3 short bolts are exactly the same length
your fine to go
Thanks.

But do you know where it's possible to buy new bolts in Australia at less than $42 per bolt?
Contact @ashdvs as he can get a better rate from volvo. But if you measure the threads you can find if it needs to be replaced or not to start with.

Cheers. I'll send him a PM.
Try asking at a decent parts supplier; if you want I can ask the 2 in town that I trust to find obscure parts; one is an engine rebuilder, the other is a good independent motor factor.
Thanks Paddler Ed - I've contacted @ashdvs and he's looking into it.

But if you're taking to these guys in passing, it would be appreciated. I dare say other people on the board may also be looking for them one day.

I was reading on turbobricks that they are the same as 8v 1.8 and 2.0l VW engine head bolts in part if that helps... Would have to research further though.
We can supply them and they're not particularly expensive.
calvintibia001;21378 wroteIs the head bolts on the B234F different from B230F ?
Yes
3 of one and 7 of another
