Can’t find any threads from Australia about raising the suspension on a 740 wagon.

i Know nothing and want to raise the car maybe 3 to 5”. I will be using volvo wheels with wider tyrea like 225

im on a budget and interested in parts from other vehicles like springs etc. Any advice appreciated.

I will buy new shock absorbers so would love your opinions on Which type and what set up for on road driving with some dirt/gravel off road or a shortcut here and there driving.

most common picture on google for reference

Spring spacers and jeep springs in rear, extending front struts (cut and weld)

Here's one Volvo had prepared earlier

Ie: All the hard work has already been done

3-5" is a massive lift. I'm guessing you'll run into geometry issues with control arms and trailing arms.

    Dauntless

Not to mention the legal limitations unless this isnt going to be a street rig?

Legally? Not possible. As a passenger car it can only be raised about an inch, including tyres. Work out what the biggest tyres are in the door sticker and then go from there.

You can legally lift it 50mm but that is total lift including tyre diameter and any suspension mods

Max tyre diameter increase is 15mm btw

illegal? You better take it to the vet. I was a bit ambitious I’m a metric man but It may be cheaper and easier to order custom springs to exceed the height and keep Dibble off my back. As i said I’m clueless I don’t even know how to ask the right questions yet but it’s happening. Has anyone got custom springs made?

    Custom springswill blow your budget.

There was a 240 wagon body dropped on an International Scout out there .

What a way to ruin a good Scout!

They came in V8 and half the V8 as 4cyl.

Anyway, maybe get a Triton or L300 4x4 van and put body on it.

The federalis up your way have been cracking down on the 4wd crowd for lift kits so most of the traffic cops would confidently slap a sticker on your windscreen.

The shitbox rally guys usually space the strut tops to get increased height in the front its relatively easy and cheap.

Haha that’s epic I don’t want a 4x4 chassis or obvious wheels. Basically at the moment it’s lowered. I want the vehicle to conquer all road terrains with a slightly exaggerated lift over the stock height. Forget about the 3 - 5” I was tripping also The cops only pull over 4x4 they are very narrow minded when conducting those type of operations but still valid point. Thanks for the tip there I’ll probably do it that way
