Momo isn't 100% done yet, but is officially ready for the Shannons Classic!
I took it for a cruise down Old Pac yesterday, I caught a few photographers on the bends so hopefully I'll have a nice photo to show you in the next couple of days if they get posted on the Old Pac photography group on Facebook.
I also found that Momo had developed a hot start issue, lots and lots of cranking before it finally sputters to life, and then it runs fine.
I know this is usually the control pressure regulator, so I swapped the reg from my other 1977 B21E motor after flushing the filter screens out as much as possible, and that solved the issue. I opened the old one up and there is a bit of rust on the screws on the fuel flow valve so I didn't go any further as those screws were stuck pretty good. I'll come back to it at a later date, and hopefully I will be able to rebuild and calibrate it and put it back into service.
I also replaced the fuel filter. Whoever did it last time clearly went to the parts store and asked for a no-name brand fuel filter for a 240, and they were given the larger size filter for later 240s. Upon finding that this larger filter doesn't fit on the firewall mount, they solved the problem by removing the bracket entirely, so my fuel filter just floats there ?♂️ Fortunately the bracket (part # 1266692) is still available from GCP so a new one is on the way.
So at this point all that is left is to pull the front carpets, power wash them, and put new sound deadening in. I'm just waiting on another roll of 12mm acoustic liner to show up.
