I recently ordered 8 "O" rings from an established Volvo parts seller in Melbourne. The price per item seemed fine, I gave my card details and happily awaited the parts.
A week went by when a 500 gram postpak arrived, I opened it and a letter envelope fell out containing my "O" rings. I checked the invoice, I had been charged $13.68 freight!
I checked the post date, they waited almost three days before sending the bloody thing!
I called them up and stated it was a bit steep, and it would have been cheaper and quicker to send the bloody things by letter. The guy at the other end stated "people complain either way"
I know these parts companies bump up postage costs to better the margin, but this has to be the most blatant case I have come across.
I will stick with Voldat, Bellinham, and berri motors in future
cheers, Gareth

Who? This needs to go into the thread on parts suppliers.

G'day,
I am usually more discreet, but this particular case really got me. The company was Volvparts. My experience may have been a once off compared to many people getting good service, fair enough.
I think face to face purchasing from companies is best, that way they have to look me in the eye when they try to screw me.
Another company had to send me two starter motors to get me one that worked. A wrecker in Coburg sent me an ignition that was damaged, and a part of it failed to work. And companies wonder why many people prefer ebay, hell I know I do....
cheers, Gareth

While not making excuses for them, this sort of thing does happen.
Sometimes, whomever keyed the order may simply have charged you whatever generic 'freight' cost they have in whatever their billing system is. That sort of specific number for 'freight' sounds like an ex gst cost for a flat-rate courier. Maybe.
That said, it wouldn't have happened if you'd ordered them through us.
