martin I picked up this T-5R last year as it’s always been on my list as a dream car when I was in school. I knew it needed some serious work but since I have the means now and I certainly have the time, I figured why not. Body needed work with most top panels having the clear peeled, few dings and scrapes on the body. Interior is quite good so a win there. There was a aftermarket stereo which had to go and a horrible aftermarket exhaust which was way too loud and didn’t look good either. Plus all the other normal suspension and service bits which will no doubt come up to do. This is the car being worked on slowly between jobs by my good friend who has a spray shop. This is it after the paint has been finished. Starting to look respectable. Now it’s off to my Volvo dealer service centre to do all the mechanical work While it is at Volvo it is getting a full stage 0. Suspension refresh with bushes and trailing arms and such. New Exhaust from Sweden and trying to refit the standard stereo which is a mission as all the wiring has been nuked to fit the aftermarket thing that was in there. Just got these. Waiting on the front brakets to arrive. Getting painted next week to match the R callipers. Can’t wait. More pictures coming when it’s out of the workshop and ready to roll. In case some of you are thinking that the wheels won’t clear those. I already have pegs waiting in the shed.
martin Downpipe is still in the car. Got a catback exhaust. I will be getting rid of it in the near future and replacing it with something I know and trust.
peterwgpa Will be watching with interest as I am in the process of bringing an 850R back to life and it too has had the wiring harness butchered for aftermarket doof doof I am just waiting on my parts to arrive from Skandix and hope to get started over Easter
martin Just received it back from the workshop after a few weeks of waiting for parts and getting all the mechanicals right and a final detail to ascertain a good base line. There’s still a few little things still to do from here but all in all quite happy with the result so far. I must say it does drive very nice and tight. Note all badges back on correctly and also has S70 door handles now too as they are just little nicer and smoother than the 850 type. a
martin Pegs just fitted. Needs a little clean up starting to look ok. Still waiting on brackets for the brembos but hopefully not too far away now.
martin Just got the callipers back from paint. Had a logo stencilled on meaning no stickers. Here is a front and rear calliper next to each other. Now just need to buy new rotors and wait for the front brackets to arrive. Can’t wait
martin Had the long weekend so with the extra little time up my sleeve I decided to relocate the horn/s. Looks better without them in the way and in front of the radiator. I decided to put only one up and it went under the car where there was a perfect spot.
martin Thanks. One is sufficient. Tried it out and works fine. Plus I don’t see myself using the horn too much anyway.
rado Looks fantastic with new paint , very nice. Must get my arse in gear and get mine painted . Damn wish i had a mate with a shop .
