100% can confirm that there are 26mm EF/EL front swaybars.
The repetition of them (all) being 27mm seems to be internet folklore.

There are also 28mm bars from police spec from memory

I had the 28 on the 1990 240 and loved it

I have a 30mm falcon front bar (whiteline) that gives me mad understeer in the wet, solid as in the dry though

Hi all - just got a reply from K-Mac about 240 sway bars. FYI may be of interest, although pricing is quite high (probably could get ipd bars for same price). Note I think his facts are a bit off on the diameters but they’re not experts on Volvos of course!

Yes, and the 2 door model OEM was 27mm Front and 22mm Rear

For Volvo at the time of the 4 door release we made 6 sets for their promotional test cars in above diameters.

Yes, way too pricey! I’ve got Mark Richardson (VP Tuning) looking into whether Fulcrum Suspensions can make bars for the 240s. With any luck maybe we can get a more reasonable-priced option in future.

EL falcon front swaybars are are available in 24mm, 26mm and 27mm for factory bar sizes, depending on original vehicle spec/options.

Larger bars are available as aftermarket options. (Superpro offer a 33mm option and Whiteline offer a 30mm option)

Whiteline, for example, have a different listing for EF and EL bars - this should serve as confirmation that they're different. (EL is wider)

Be certain that you're getting one from an EL, rather than trusting the word of the bloke at the wrecker.

Thanks for the tip Ash. Next time I go to pick-a-part I’ll have a look out for the EL one. I think the one I got is an ED?? Not sure!

In order to get more clearance for the brake hoses, I decided to follow what @Ghettobird did here https://ozvolvo.org/discussion/2389/julians-240-t6/p1 (half way down Page 1). For a few dollars and minimal effort it's good insurance. Better to be safe than stuck on the side of the road (or worse).

Can anyone give me the length of the front sway bar links when using the EL Ford sway bar? Looking at Wilson's picture it appears about 4 or 5 inches. Asking as I'm thinking of using the Ford link at the top with a heim joint at the bottom. I guess it could come down to what mount you use on the chassis also.

Philthy AshDVS makes adjustable links. If you can make your own with helm joints, you should probably also make them adjustable IMHO.

Philthy It'll vary depending on your ride height. Ideally you'll get your swaybar arm (lever) as close to horizontal as possible with the wheels on the ground.

Yes understand that the bar needs to be horizontal with the wheels on the ground. I've got lower springs also so I'll wait until i get it onto the ground. Ash what load rating are the heim joints that you use, 11000 or 16000lbs if that's not a trade secret?

The QA1 ones that we use are a motorsport-specific heim joint/rod end and specify 'very high radial load capacity' rather than anthing more than that but the ball is heat treated, hard chromed 52100 bearing steel, the race is injection moulded teflon reinforced kevlar and the body is chromoly. everything is oversized and I'm yet to see one fail (other than to wear out the urethane bushes where the bar mounts to it.

I like the Aurora, QA1 and Alinabal stuff personally, but they're not cheap.
