  • Volvo 240 Sedan 1985-1993 Unleaded

They are all unleaded, leaded petrol hasn’t been available for about 15 years

Yes I know but the 84/85 cut-off so I just wanted to make sure. By the way, how do you run a leaded vehicle nowadays? So many for sale so curious.

you put unleaded fuel in it, as normal.

Apparently that's no good for the car.

I think the B21/23 and B230E Volvos had hardened valve seats so you should be fine. Prob want to use high octane if it's a high-compression engine like the B230E.

Who said this to you?

If you want one with a catalytic converter (ie. originally REQUIRED unleaded fuel for that reason) then you will need an 86 or later with LH2.2 or LH2.4 injection. 85 was still non-catalyst, K-Jet injection.

Look on facebook marketplace , everything is sold there now.

For some old cars yes, you need to use valve saver fluid when using unleaded. But all Volvo 240s no matter now old run fine on unleaded, but as Greg said, you might need to use 95 or 98 depending on the model.

My 1992 240 with LH2.4 would run just as well and use the same amount of fuel on 91 or 98 so it just depends on the car really
