That looks like a conventional vac advance distro.
The 123 is full electronic while looking stock.

Nothing clever, just that we're both Ben and linking back to the Wino/Forg comedy

Got some work done today. Got the 4 gauge gt cluster in however fuel gauge and temp gauge still misbehaving so now have to look and the sender and ttemp sensor, also need to run the wire for the tacho.
Speaking of tacho wire, is it just off the distributor or is there another easier spot?
Also have pretty epic blowby to the point that the intake had a constant pool of oil, so I have setup a catch can using the same air feed to feed the catch can, hopefully does the trick and will at least stop the SU's working like crap due to being gunked up.
Also got some viton floats on the way as the old ones have got all sinky and that style will always with ethanol in ye petrol so less fuelling problems whille cornering.
Also have a hot rodder heater blower integrated unit thing on the way as the heater tap is buggered and the core isn't super happy and the fan sounds godawful.

Cool, much neater to wire from there. Tah.

want the 80's old stereo gear out of the BMW? :\

Has a single speaker AM jobbie from the 70's which does quite well and gets ABC locla and RN which is what I listen to now that I am old.

Sooo much blowby coming out of b20, intake can't cope, 50 k's at 70mph lost about 2l on the intake and exhaust. Time to build shed engine methinks.

Anything easy it could be that i could do?

I could look at the greenbook and work out that the vacuum and vent hosea for the pcv were backwards :-P Easy fix and will put in a catch can setup as some still geta through.

Busy day yesterday and this morning getting almost everything sorted.
> Routed the PCV stuff correctly and via a catch can.
> Tacho wire run and hooked up so tacho works.
> Battery wires redone and a closer earth connected near the battery ratther than going by the block and he earthing strap.
> Flushed the coolant.
> Put in a new coolant temp sensor so gauge now works
> Heater unit/fan thing taken out and cleaned and greased, fuck loads of leaves in the fan! Still need to get something so leaves can't get in again, a mesh of some sort so stuff that goes in in fine enough to blow through.
To do:
> Still need to sort the wiring for the electric aerial as it is still buggered.
> Still need to fix the lighting on the GT cluster, using a small USB LED light at the moment.
> Still a fair bit of blowby oil loss so going to build the shed motor to go in and also fit the p51 as 5th would be nice.

I'd say thats a busy day! I can't wait to hear how the p51 works out. Although I am a bit jealous.
I spent a couple hours cleaning my 144 up and going through a few things. I picked up a bunch of stuff at the auto parts store for up coming maintenance, including a few cans of dupli-colour fabric/vinyl paint to touch up the interior.
I am going to tackle the heater unit next weekend... blower dead. Other than the lighting issue, did you end out getting your GT gauge working ok? My dash needs some love. No lighting, speedo dances around like a son of a B and my fuel gauge works intermittently. Does your speedo bounce around of your GT dash? Mine flutters around within about a 10k range.
egads (she/her)
Under 20 mph it does jump around. Fuel sender needs tweaking on mine, range is way outside what the gauge can show, otherwise all good.
Crabolsky140
Mine jumps around all over the place. I wonder if I just need to replace the speedo cable. Update with some photos of the GT dash installed!
egads (she/her)
Could be dodgy cable or loose though.

Very nice egads.
Another one saved!

Saving every 140 I can get my hands on!

Could my oil use be rooted valves?
