OP with the 240, just so we're covering all the bases - Have you checked for codes from the ECU and EZ-K? Does the little hose coming out of the fuel pressure regulator on the fuel rail smell of fuel, or is the FPR squirting fuel? How long since the filter at the main fuel pump was changed? If you've changed a dead in-tank…

My 2c? I really like the look of the wheels in black, as they appear in the photos above. The black wheels fit the theme of the black bumpers and front spoiler with the 82+ black upper bumper / hockey sticks trim and grille. The orange / black scheme looks awesome.

Interesting. According to this chart, 225 at 45 profile comes out at 7.5 inches - no wonder those Pegasus wheels are in such hot demand. https://www.tyresizecalculator.com/charts/tire-width-for-a-wheel-rim-size-chart

There were only 40-something 960 wagons officially imported into Australia, so..... Wheels on 240s? 5 x 108 PCD with 20 mm offset are standard fitment. 6 inch tyres will fit under the guards; 7 inch wide tyres may need rolling of the rear guards, and 8 inch wide tyres will need the guards rolled. This online calculator…

I can see the speedo drive gear sticking out the back of the O/D, but..... Wondering if these things from an Amazon usually have a bearing cage (p/n 380435) fitted to them, which goes over the speedo drive gear, and is held in place by the clamp. There's a 'hat seal' (p/n 380192) which is the oil seal that sits inside this…

Looking forward to seeing progress on this project - if your past ones are a guide of what to expect, lots of good photos and reading are in store for us.

Today's Lesson: Test fit your prototype before embarking on the mass production of it. Let's see if they make good. It's a pity this happened, because it's clear there's a market for this product and this will be expensive for them to put right.

There were a few problems to overcome however, the first was that the pushrod hole in the head had to be enlarged since there would have been interference between the pushrod and the head. This being the case, I removed the head. Instead of using a carbide burr to open up the hole (which was recommended to me!), I thought…

Uh oh.

Yes. Because you can still get new gears, syncros, and bearings for T5 boxes which are rated up to 300+ lb/ft /100,000 miles, and without the need to mortgage the farm to pay for them. M47 is known to fail even on NA cars driven hard. There is a reason they built the M90..... M46 with J/P or P-type overdrive doesn't have…

Is there a changeover point (year model?) from -007 to -015 injectors? i'm guessing the B21E and the B23E / B230E used the same injectors once they changed to -015?

Sorry about the bum steer there. :( One other option is using an aftermarket heads-up display which plugs into the OBD-2 connection. Another is by fitting the Donkey Kong mono-dial dash display from a later model.

Classic Swede in the UK stocks them. 113 quid each, plus 215 GBP to ship it. https://www.classicswede.org/shop/240-group-a-rear-spoiler-abs

This is for the ?60 types, but it looks just like our 2010 S80 V8's instrument panel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jeb2DRk71Cc Seems like you can bring up the speed digitally this way. The digital speedo as such doesn't appear in the 'speedo' window, but in the messages window of the tacho, and it's more part of the…

Gives a whole new meaning to that Austin sticker that read 'floats on fluid'..... PS: The young'uns wouldn't remember this -

Found one! Year model 2012, 38K km. Timing belt will be done before sale. Just what the Ledfoot ordered. Mods, please close.

@Brad writes: They are 3 8mm screws holding the cap onto the distributor. One at the top and one on each side. It's not that difficult to remove. Inconvenient yes, PITA maybe a little but not difficult. Thanks for the correction. Not difficult if you don't have Arthur Itis, you mean.😁 OP, two thoughts occur: how is your…

^ I just wonder if condensation is forming in the dizzy cap overnight and becoming a problem with a morning cold start, which then comes good when it dries out and after a few HT zaps. Removing the dizzy cap on a B230 head-mounted dizzy is a major PITA involving a small ratchet spanner, a set of bruised and skinned…

Lockable cap for 140 / 164 up to YM73. Nice that it still has the keyhole cover.

YV1744886K2323330 (NOV 88) That's year model 1989: This means it's the LH 2.4 system on the engine, and diagnostics are somewhat easier. Follow the guide at the link below to look for any codes which the engine may be throwing. https://www.volvoclub.org.uk/faq/EngineOBDCodes.html WRT your difficult cold-start problem - is…

From 76 compared to 90+: The fuel filler neck is different, as is the tank breather setup. 78+ fuel injection tanks have an inbuilt swirl pot. The 78+ FI tanks had an in-tank fuel pump. There are two different sizes of tank sender / in-tank pump flanges. Carby tanks are different to FI tanks - carby tanks have internal…

It depends what issue is being caused. If it's a noise issue, the 6-blade 'tropical' fan has a viscous clutch [14] which gets noisy when it gets older. New replacements are still available via Skandix, etc - p/n 1266788. Seems to me like the 4-blade unit shown in [1] wouldn't have enough puff to deal with an OZ summer. If…

What is the gearbox's tag number?

The Oz Volvo Technical Archive has the AW7x rebuild Green Book, in 3 glorious parts. I guess its getting to the point now where we're going to have to start reconditioning these transmissions instead of swapping a different one in.

Thanks for the info. It's good to know how the mainshaft length on the US-type boxes used with the 1352 066 939 extension housing is the same as the V6 Commodore units with the BTR-made 0552-088 905 tail. What are the tag numbers from each gearbox? What model Commodore is the V6 box from? The Commodore box's 0552-088 905…
