Hey great stuff, but I'm thinking that the Australian assembled vehicles have a different colour chart - more like Datsun's of the day?

You’re correct in that the local cars used some unique colours, which are mostly shared with Nissan/Datsun and sometimes VW. Most of the local colours are preceded with “CLR”, so for example our silver 88 240GL was CLR057 Platinum Glow, which was also shared with Nissan. Our white 79 244DL is CLR911 Snowy white which is also Antarctica white VW colour. A lot of people seem to get confused about the paint codes. Most of the VIN plates have the paint code stamped on them (I’m talking 240s) and/or have a Dulux paint code sticker on the RH side panel behind the headlight next to the radiator. Easiest thing to do is find that paint code on your car’s VIN plate and Google it. If it doesn’t make sense with the CLR in front of it, then just try the number.

  • Note if you go to this link, you’ll see the local “CLR” codes listed as well.

Thanks for that - unfortunately my chassis is the old 14 number job and there is no paint decal in my engine bay.

Are you having trouble identifying the paint code on your car? Somebody here should be able to help if that’s the case.
  • Seems OZ cars are one of the Du Ponts -

What model are we talking? 140?

So from looking at the chart it would be CLR573 - light blue - despite appearances this is a 1980 245M but happy to be told otherwise....
