So the younger one of the old Volvo's is going to be getting a bit of needed TLC. The car has always had the servicing done when req'd and any issues have always been resolved. The car has done around the 260000km and still pulling strong as ever.
I've started ordering stuff, so far replacing all the ignition components, complete service, will be changing all the fluids, both inner and outer tie rods, looking at the bushings around the front end and front suspension mounts. Anything else?
Also has anyone been able to get the drive shift front cv on to the angle gear? In australia

@Rob is the angle gear and driveshaft ace, has the goods on cheap bearing etc.
  • The front c.v joint is available through the dealer. Approx $ 500 last time i got one

They are available. I have accumulated a couple of spares. I would sell one cheaper than dealer price but is still pretty expensive.

I have a good second hand complete tailshaft or I have a brand new in box front CV joint.

How much for the cv?, tailshaft will cost to much in freight
  • Hi Gav, got any pics of the v70xc? I really like that particular model. Not many about.

That was 4 years ago, still looks that good too
  • Nice! Good looking front on those.

    Now I need one.
  • gavinhGav (@gavinh) Parmelia, Perth
Yeah, just fitted ome wipers on the headlights, looks good with them too

So got my goodies from fcp, swapped out all the leads, plugs, dizzy and rotor arm, cabin filter and air filter. It made a surprising difference also found #3 spark plug was not as tight as the rest and possibly causing a leak on the compression side of the stroke.
Also message Ash@dvs to get pricing on bushings, mounts etc for the front end. Hopefully get the cv off Rob, just got to put some pennies away now.
I think all up it will come to $2500ish by the time I'm finished and a v70 that will last a few more years

  • Wipers on headlights is just showing off! Enjoying this thread. Pls get lots of pics.
  • Do these v70xc's have the aw55 transmission?

There's a manual in SA on gumtree at the moment. I'm guessing a manual version is extremely rare?

Will try to, am shite at that sort of stuff, and on a 2-1 roster in the Pilbara.
Yeah mines an auto and it's now the main car ( just sold the Amarok) cause the missus preferred the Volvo to drive.

    Thanks for the complement.

    It's a P80 bigal so same auto as plebeian 850 or v70 unless it's a 1999 or 2000 then it's the 5spd
  • 2000 got the 5 speed. 99 are still 4 speed.
