Put a new battery in the 2000 C70 this afternoon and got the msg on the radio screen of "code" pressed on/off and then turned ignition off then back on and got "system off" on radio screen.
Does anyone know how to get the radio/CD working again.
Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure, all I know is when I put the new battery in it asked for a "code" after a couple of attempts it started saying""system off"

You need the radio code from a Volvo dealer

You need to turn the ignition on without starting the engine and leave it for approximately 2hrs,sometimes less sometimes more and you'll get the the code display back on the stereo then you can enter the correct code, get it wrong 3 times again and it'll go back to "off", try pulling the stereo out and see if someone has written it on there or in the owner manual, it's a 4 didgit code.

If you're really lucky, the PO has written the code in the owners' manual, which saves you pulling the head unit out or going to a dealer.
When it says 'system off', you have to play the waiting game as Jimbo described, until it says 'code'. You then get 3 chances to put the correct numbers in - at Strike 3, you're out, and it goes back to 'system off'.

If you msg here or call @iceton1975,. Mark at Berry motor group he may be kind enough to get ythe code for you. Easier to ask local volvo dealer at parts and service counter.
Once, my local dealer guy even input the code for me! Free of course.

I actually bought the C70 from Mark, it's the black manual conversion one the Berry Group had for sale.
Thanks every e for the information, much appreciated.

In future - if necessary, it's dead easy.
I rung up the Parramatta Volvo dealers and gave them the details of the car and they gave me the code.
Piece of cake - made me happy.
