omgv70t Hi all, I just installed my second hand Throttle Body Unit, I've taken it to my Volvo mechanic (not a Volvo dealer) to have it programmed and he hasn't been successful. How much would a dealer charge for a Cam Bus Upgrade? its a 1999 v70 (not wide body), thanks Tony
timbo Only the dealerships in Aus can load software. You would need either a etm reload, or a total can reload. Dealer would charge anywhere from $180-$300
omgv70t ok thanks. Whats the difference between a etm reload and a total can reload? I spoke to an auto electrician and he said upto $700, that's what the cars worth LOL
Philia_Bear If the dealer is going to install software (module update or reload), Volvo frequently only makes the latest version available for any specific module and thus there are frequently dependencies that other modules be updated for shit to work... ~80% (1 in 4) cars its just simpler to do a can bus reload which updates all the modules and loads a consistent level across all modules The good Volvo dealer in Sydney charges $180 for a can bus reload the worst dealer in Sydney charges ~$330
Philia_Bear Most dealers also have a minimum charge... so unless your getting other work done... the Can Bus reload frequently ends up the same dam price as a single module load
c30c30 Has anyone tried getting a Vida 3 day pass? I know some of our overseas friends have managed to go that route.
Philia_Bear egads;c-149080 wroteIs service 2.0 still a thing? That have you a canbus realod along with a regular service $600 on my xc90 for what amounts to an oil change and wash and software Cheaper to just have them do the canbus and oil change elsewhere
omgv70t Ok thanks Bear in Residence, looks like the canbus reload is the best option. From what John said at precision modules it will override the limp mode its currently in, just had to check with you guys that I was on the path. I'll take it Central Coast Volvo at Gosford on Monday once I've checked they can get the correct code from my VIN. Thanks everyone I hope it goes well.
XC60guy2011 A certified volvo dealer I called said they wont touch the software unless I get a service. Then they are happy to all the updates. Cost was $580 I think.
