fiestyjim Hi from NZ - I recently picked up a cheap 1998 S40 T4 manual ($2.5k) as manual volvos are rare as hens teeth here. I have a few other cars so this one is a future project. It has HEICO badges on it and is a Jap import, no history but everything seems to work apart boost seems a bit off. I'll fit a gauge to it soon. I cant find what Heico did to get their badge on these back in the day. I have been reading on Volvospeed what those mental Finns are doing to these motors (4194T2 - 1000HP /200MPH etc) but wondered what you guys were doing, particularly with remapping in Oz. Plan at the moment is to get the engine all serviced (prob replace the TCV - Snabb?) and reliable then look at larger exhaust, maybe injectors and bigger turbine into the TD04L turbo. The stock look but 250kW sort of deal is maybe where its at for me. Ideas?
Ex850R You prolly got the 1000hp model! But, the intercooler hose has fallen off.... Welcome! Great kar! Plenty to be done but start with a stage 0 to sort out all the capped out rubber and bushes etc. Get a big order going on a USA or UK site, as listed in the pinned, trusted sellers section. Have fun!
fiestyjim sweet thanks - not sure this model was sold in the US though so VIVA, Elevate, IPD etc are no help?
fiestyjim Actually found what I wanted here >> http://v70r.com/forums/topic/61815-how-can-i-make-my-2001-s40-faster/
timbo Can't offer much advice on tuning these motors but one of my customers put me onto these guys for Volvo LSD. Price is right vs quaife http://www.tractionconcepts.com/Volvo-S40-V40-M56-LSD-Kit-p/tcxvo7651.htm
Spac These LSDs seem to be hit-and-miss. Sometimes they are useless straight out of the box, but other times they work quite well.
