I've hared the story about the GT/260 dealer conversions as well, no idea how true it is though, someone once told me there were 30 done, and someone keeping track of GTs mentioned there were 30 GT autos done, but I've never seen anything to back this up. either way M46 260s are very rare.
I have an '82 264GLE and a 262C but with M46s, but they are conversions I did. I bought a gold/bronze colour 264GLE manual for one of the conversions, it appears to have been sold new in vic and has a few other interesting features.
I messaged the seller of this 264 with a few questions, they gave me a number to contact about it but they haven't answered yet. if I can get in contact with them hopefully I'll buy it and add it to the collection, because two 260 manuals aren't enough lol.
timbo;c-146599 wroteVince harmer told me about the batch of 264 manual models. Apparently Volvo Australia forced all the states to take one, the Sydney car ended up getting sent to Canberra and was blue and had metal over fenders and wide Simmons wheels. He had the job of getting it over the pits/rego inspected
He kept track of it and bought it a decade or so later and pinched the gearbox for his 262c.
Did the blue one have an "RS" badge on it by any chance? I once spoke to someone who said they owned one with that badge, an M46, some body modifications and aftermarket wheels. it was along time ago and they didn't have pics though.
For anyone interested this what a 260 M46 looks like, compared to the standard BW55. removed from my 262C today.
