captain_anchovy Read a story that a small hole in the space station was repaired with "kapton" tape. Checked and found its available on Ebay. Does anyone know of it or use it on Volvos?
Ghettobird Kapton tape is used to isolate electrical circuits, its fairly high heat resistant, provides a good barrier to prevent high voltage arcing & is manufactured in many different sizes and thicknesses. The only place in our cars that is likely to have or need any is in the computers. Often where the PCB could contact cases, clusters and inside the display & entertainment module LCD assemblies. There isnt anywhere else it would really need to be. As for heat resistance, DEI reflect-a-gold is a better choice in automotive applications. I use Kapton tape when building LiPo battery packs to further protect tabs from shorting in the event of a mishap or major physical battery damage
Angus242164 Isn't Kapton the flammable insulation that was used in aircraft wiring harnesses, and implicated in the TWA800 crash?
