They are a drop in part, I've used them to replace white label ones a few times.
The change they made to the yellow label ones was to update the position sensors, the early ones had brushes and brass contacts, which would wear out and send an inaccurate signal back to the car, and the ECU wouldn't be able to control them properly and causes issues.
The later yellow label ones had contact-less magnetic position sensors, which didn't fail with use like the early ones. apart from that they are identical, the later sensors put out the exact same signal, so the ETM appears exactly the same to car.
