Last night I fitted a remanufactured, Volvo-branded, AMM from FCP. I was turning the bolt and realised it wasn't tightening. The threaded metal hole was spinning in the plastic body. The bolt goes all the way in and THEN it turns before the bolt gets it's final 'bite'. The second hole is 100% secure. But of course the bracket doesn't reach it, if I move the AMM back the first inlet tube wouldn't reach, and the tube on the manifold side would need to be compressed and might tear.
Since it's remanufactured my guess is whoever had it before over-tightened it. It's in the car now, seems secure - at the moment anyway, being held in by the plastic tubes on each end. And while the bolt isn't tightened down, the metal piece doesn't seem like it would pull free from the plastic body any time soon.
What would you do: Forget about it? Require a replacement??
My concern is it could come free in the future, and if that happens I'd have to either drill a hole sideways and/or use super glue. But if I do that they might not exchange it later under their 'free replacement guarantee' if the nichrome wire breaks, etc.
If I request a replacement and they say yes over a 'turning hole', they'd probably expect me to ship it back first. And I'd probably return the core unit along with it to save on postage. Which would mean no car for the next 2-3 weeks. Not a big deal - I've done without before for longer - but still a pain.

Before you bought the AMM, did you try a different second hand one first? What was your problem originally

Nah, I didn't have a spare. When I removed the original I could see the nichrome wire was open circuit/broken.

I've told FCP about it and just asked "can anything be done about it".

I've had bad luck with water getting into rebuilt ones, now I only use original ones made by Bosch only

It looks quite good apart from the above. I bought the "Volvo remanufactured Bosch". It looks to be sealed well - like new actually - around that plastic plate, and a bright new blue Volvo sticker. Still waiting for their reply.

I returned the AMF/AMM sensor to FCP... Who promptly shipped the same unit back again, LOL. (I don't know it's the same one. But the hole on the replacement unit turns too.) It does however mean they ignored my request to 'please test the hole does not rotate in the housing using a bolt' before shipping.
