Forg Wondering if anyone has one of these wot I can purloin in return for valid units of currency? I've got nasty vibrations which seem to be diff related, would be good if I can get something that can be swapped in & tested (to ascertain that the diff is DEFINITELY the cause), and then potentially be a source of parts should mine either need a rebuild or have bits of it sub'd for bits of another (I have a reco'd one with a TruTrac installed).
Philia_Bear I've got a complete thingy Yours for free I can trailer it over to you this weekend in the box trailer?
Forg That would be most smurfy! However, let me ruminate & check with the Minister For War & Finance; I may be better off turning-up in the Commode (maybe early next week) & borrowing the trailer & dropping the diff off at The Rev Doctor & then dropping the trailer off ... unsure if Catrin's going to want oily-smell (unsure if I do) in the Commodore. :)
ramrod Before you go changing the entire diff: Make sure you know what's making it vibrate. Off the top of my head: Driveshaft and or uni's Rubber bushes Wheels Tyres etc Start small and cheap bits first
Forg Yes been there done that, spent many hours fiddling & adjusting & poking, all that’s left is the driveshaft itself (which is new & was installed because we thought that was the sauce of the vibrations - and since they persisted once the diveshaft was replaced we’re pretty sure that ain’t it) and the diff.
VolvoHordz Have you got adjustable torque rods setup to the correct length? Given the lowness off your car with stock length torque rods the nose of the diff will be pointing at the wrong angle potentially causing vibrations.
Forg Yep; a lot of angles needed straightening-out (adjustable torque rods installed & adjusted, panhard-rod adjusted, ‘box mounts shimmed/modded) & it’s made a lot of difference at low speed; but above about 60 everything’s still going to poo.
Forg Most excellent that it is most excellent ... was thinking this evening, mebbe I shoulda bought two bottles & tried some m’self. :)
