Remove the bolts securing them to the floor

Early seatbelts with buckles in console, or post 85 with stalks mounted next to the console? If the latter, as per Ramrod's comment. If the former, you need to remove the console first to get at the central anchor bolt that holds the buckle bracket to the top of the tunnel.

To remove console cover there are 2 screws on the sides near the rear. Easier to access them if you move seats all the way forward. You will also need to remove the rear ash tray/floor light which is easier to pop out of you remove the ash tray and the plastic piece behind the ash tray. Once the light is removed and threaded thru the console hole surrounding it, and side screws are removed (along with the plastic washers) lift console gently at rear and slide forward to clear the metal tab that's holding the front of the console down just below the handbrake lever. If you have heated seat switches in the front of the console you will have to remove those too to remove console. Console removal instructions apply to all years of 240. Likely to be very fragile and break into multiple pieces when removed!
