One of the future jobs on my 164 is to install a cruise control. AFAIK there is no original one to use on the car so it look like aftermarket is the way to go.
Has anyone installed a cruise control kit and which one did you use?

I cobbled a later 240/740 style genuine kit on my 1800ES. Instead of actuating the throttle via a dashpot in the engine bay I use the dashpot to pull on the throttle linkage where it goes through the firewall down near the accelerator pedal. Then the only other things you need to have are a speed signal (I have an electronic speedometer so tapped off that signal but you can get magnets that go on the driveshaft to provide a signal) and a way to mount the stalk (I was able to cut the original ES stalk tube tip off and disassemble the 240 cruise stalk and slide the whole new stalk onto the chopped ES stalk tube). Lemme know if you want more info. Late 240 cruise bits are hard to find here but you can find used 740 cruise bits and buy a new or used 240 cruise stalk overseas.

That for that. I do have a complete 740 kit that I haven't got around to installing on my 740GLE but I'd rather not ruin it as it's for the B234 engine. I'll have to have a close look at it to see if that's doable.
