Hello,
I'm new to this fantastic forum and only wish we had found it sooner! I have a brilliant 2005 V70 wagon (90,000kms on the clock) who has provided years of reliable service but is now starting to make a few worrying clunks and shudders when I decelerate. I don't know much about cars but my husband reckons this is the gearbox on the way out. Help! He wants me to sell but I still think the old girl has life in her yet. WE have been servicing with Scuderio Veloce but not always happy with them and they're trying to get me to upgrade of course. Could anyone recommend a mechanic here in Sydney - Northside if possible but will go anywhere if needs be.
Any advice would be most appreciated, thank you!

Hi
The transmissions (5 speed) is known to fail but is rare on the 2.4i version u have
Something in suspension or engine mounts is more likely
I'm a retired Volvo master tech out in Blacktown
I'm always happy to give a free opinion on it if your up for driving out this way

Thanks so much for this. The shudder only happens when you slow down from 3rd gear into 2nd, no other time - would that still possibly be suspension or engine mounts? It really feels like the gears!

A belated update on the V70 after your inspection back in May. We got onto Berry Motor Group for all the spare parts and then took it out to Joe at Lupica. You were spot on about the solenoid and Joe was able to fix - no more shuddering and it drives like a dream, so thrilled to have my car back. A HUGE thank you for your expert advice and can't recommend Berry Motor Group and Joe at Lupica Motor Repairs highly enough
