Max My Sweetheart's 1998 C70 ( now with 71K on clock) really scrape the water in a shower or when washing the screen. Crikey, in traffic in a shower we feel other cars drivers are looking at us :-) they are so noisy. We put new wipers on last year but it made no diff. The spring that draws the wiper to the screen is very very strong - much more than on my 2002 S40. The car'd been sitting in a garage for ~15 years before we got it. Are these known to 'age harden;' or anything like that? Thanks, Max.
Philia_Bear Wipers are a once every 6 month thing in Aus climate Also it's a matter of ensuring there is enough water on the windshield so that the wipers are not running across dry windshield to much
Max Thanks lads, I was shy to use the word "juddering", but yes that's it. In other cars with that amount of water it doesn't happen. When it's showering and the intermittents are on it judders. Never use wipers on a dry screen. When we replaced 'em last year we hoped that'd cure it but no - same ol' racket.
VolvoDeger All it is the angle of the arm so get yourself a shifter and locate it at the end of the arm(blade end) and give it a slight twist to make the blade lay better on the screen.
Max Okiedokie Deger -just gave 'em a bit of a twist but Volvo make good spring steel - I'll give 'em a test tomorrow and report. Cheers, Max.
Max Sorry for not getting back but my Sweety and I live separate and co-ordinating car repairs is sometimes tricky. We're driving my S40 at the moment.
Max Okiedolie - have set wiper rubbers facing 'down' when in garage and they're becoming more pliant when required. I think they've been sitting facing up fer so long they wanted to stay that way. No problem anymore thanks.
