ICEDVOVO jimbo, you might be confusing that with a black 816 I could be wrong but I think just about every 1996 850 here came with a black SC811 so not rare. When the SC816 came out in mid to late 96 they badged the aussie sedans an 850 CD I think. They were starting to throw in leather seats as well because Mercedes & saab were doing it as well and car sales then weren't crash hot. Neither was the economy; it was just beginning to turn. I have strong recollection of that as I ordered an 850SE wagon from Denlo in October 96 and it came with the SC816 but did not have the "CD" badge. I still remember thinking how fantastic the stereo sounded on a perfect blue sky Friday making its maiden journey down to Jervis bay, playing an ABC "blooms" CD. One of my favourite life moments! That's a sad old confession I can hear you thinking. But a CD player in a car was mind blowing for me after having driven around in a daggy EA falcon for a few lean years
ICEDVOVO The 816 were always a dark grey. So the black face one was very rare. Not sure which models they were standard in. The dark grey never seemed to belong to the car whereas the SC811 was a nice match But having a CD player was worth the discord.
ICEDVOVO An SC805 - must have been a precursor to the SC816 Very nice, a lot like the SC811. I wonder which models it came standard in? Looks like an import with features like "TP and PTY and NEWS" with a facility for traffic info, etc.
Jamest5r_ Yeah it's an import like the rest of the car, don't know what it originally came in as my t5r had a grey one which looked crap, probably as you say a CD model but very rare
ICEDVOVO Arr you're showing off now! That's nice. Love the bottle green We missed out on buying a green 850R wagon 5 years ago with "BAD 850" number plates. Would you believe that when I bought my 850 se wagon brand new in 96 I didn't even know the "R" model existed! And when I traded that one in 6years later on a new V70T I was blissfully unaware the V70R was coming out a few months later. When my dealer rang me in 2003 to invite me to see the very first R at Volvo HQ I couldn't get there fast enough. he tried to persuade me to order an R wagon for myself and give the V70T to my wife. But my bank manager said NO! Two cars in my garage worth a combined $190000 was way beyond my league!
