We have a straw bale house with double glazed windows and double thickness ceiling insulation, north facing orientation, so fortunately we don't go through much wood each winter. Having said that, burning zero wood would be a lot easier! We usually only light the wood stove every other day for a few hours in the evening, and that also heats the hot water, so we don't need the electric boosting at all during winter. In summer the solar feed in offsets the electric hot water heating.
