I've been running the larger style OEM torque rods with poly bushes for the last 10 years, but the bushes have chewed out and the rod ends have become egg shaped.
Is there a better alternative to this set up? I've seen a few examples of adjustable rods, the reviews for the ipd ones are not that great, but I have seen the Kaplhenke ones with rod ends instead of bushes which do look good. I don't mind a bit of additional NVH as the car is not daily driven.

I too am interested in the Kaplhenke product, Keen to see if anyone is using them

I am using strut tops from Kaplhenke and they are top notch so can endorse generally. @AshDVS can probably comment on using a heim based link back there on a 240
Vee_Que
Kaplenke is doing a bushed upgraded unit soon too.
FrankCsapo
Is there a big difference between the bushed and heim versions?
Vee_Que
Vibrations basically.

The poly bushings don't allow free rotation around the driveshaft's axis, they bind up a bit. Rose joints are the theoretically superior option as they don't inhibit that motion at all.

When you say theoretically, what's the benefit that this freedom of movement allows? Torque rods are meant to restrict the pinion angle of the diff from changing too much, so I thought the less movement the better?
GingerNinja
Freedom so it can twist to keep grip, one wheel up, one down. Not just straight up and down.

As I said, rotation around the driveshaft's axis!

I think I just needed an ELI5 moment there.
So, anyone in Australia that makes these then?
Ex850R
That's an @AshDVS specialty.

To close this one out, I got the Kaplhenke torque rods, they are a good quality rod but I had to have them shortened to get the optimal diff pinion angle. Note that this may be just because of my set up, it may not be the case for other cars. There was not enough adjustment in the rods to shorten them so I had a machine shop modify them. I've only had a few drives but they feel good and solid, some occasional noise as there are no bushes, but otherwise I'm pretty happy with them. It was an expensive exercise buying and then needing to modify them, but I'm happy with the final outcome.

I got myself the IPD adjustable set for my -78 242. I installed it a the same time as poly-bushes everywhere and the BC Racing coilovers, so I can't tell the solo-effect of the torque rods, but I didn't have any probs with grip on track days.

@AshDVS is your local, Australian made source of torque rods, suspension and brake upgrades, advice on all the above and a contributor and supporter to the Australian volvo scene for many years.
Please support local business that does its best in a very small market with little profit to be made.
You get specific platform help, individual ability and application design to get exactly what you want and local backup and afters ales support.
I've used DVS Performance torque rodand engine area bushes, selective suspension types in my 240s overtbe years, help selecting and supplying brake pads and discs all to great effect.
You can't go wrong with local.
Great people too.
FrankCsapo
Most of my suspension and brake upgrades are DVS, and I've known Ash for many years now.
In this instance Kaplhenke made a product closest to what I was looking for.
Ex850R
Yep, I'm just chucking in some free ads for Ash.
I'm a fan of Ben's stuff too.
GingerNinja
Does Ash have torque rods?
Ex850R
Yep.

Are you sure he does adjustable ones? The website last i checked covered panhard rod, but not other parts. Not that the site has much detail.
Which makes the other sites preferable, click and wait.
