Doing a bit of research on cooling system maintenance over the weekend.
Found a huge disparity in pricing:
Phoned Repco for a price on a Tridon coolant sensor for a V70.
It's just a brass encased thermistor with a wire and plug attached
Sitting down?
$275 .
Had to ask twice in case i hadn't heard right.
Generic one for a volvo that looks identical. $6 on ebay, $15 IPD
Genuine Volvo one at IPD $68
Tridon Standard thermostat - $64 repco, $28 supercheap , $36 ebay, Stant one at IPD is $11 and includes gasket
Tridon High Flow thermostat - $101 repco , $48 supercheap, $36 ebay
Plus you need a gasket which is charged at between $10 and $20
Stant standard one at IPD is $11 and includes gasket

Exactly.. they wonder why we wont buy here
volvo1975
Pretty sure they wanted $58 for a thermostat for a old 244 ? and some crazy amount for 740 dizzy cap ( cap only ?)

I've not paid anywhere near that for repco prices, they usually match eBay prices. Maybe it's a Victorian repco thing.

I use Repco sometimes... I'm more likely to use the local independent shops than I am the big guys; SuperCheap is often less than Repco though.
Have a look on something like eziautoparts and then go from there for prices.
