ABS TRACS Module in any condition from any 96 to 98 volvo,
If its not working or unsure thats OK too
Major Ledfoot
Do you have a Bosch or Volvo part number for it?
jamesinc
@ICEDVOVO I have one in my '96 850R that has ABS and TRACS. It's probably not working properly. I'm just waiting on a replacement to turn up from Voldat. Will keep you posted.
ICEDVOVO
Thanks James.
Mark Iceton has them too.
I have repaired my son's one as best as I could.
He re-installed it yesterday and will have to wait till its clocked up 100k or so before it synchronises.
At the current rate at which he drives it that could be a month away ! I think he's embarrassed driving it because someone stole the grille and it looks like a beater without it.
I might have to ask him if I can drive it around for him; at least I get an excuse to drive it.
If the lights are still on after 100k we go to plan 2 which is buying a new one.

Could be wheel sensor.
A simple obd2 Bluetooth plug in, 12 bux delivered on eBay, the app on your phone and you can scan codes and kill them.
The abs light will go out by itself I bet anyway.
ICEDVOVO
I'd already tried running Torque on bluetooth, it didnt find any codes and it doesnt detect the ABS ones.
After he reinstalled it I offered last night to dig out the toughbook and run FCR but my son was "too tired" ( too busy playing games on line).
Intention was to see if it was in fact something else like the wheel sensors.
I have to check the pump too, from inside the car sounds like it works on ign switch position 2 and there is some initial take up on the brake pedal or maybe that's just the vacuum kicking in, not sure how all that works or in what sequence.
ICEDVOVO
Ran Vol-FCR last night.
9 codes came up including 2 wheel sensor codes.
Cleared the codes but on restart 7 codes reappeared, the wheel sensor ones did not reappear.
Codes were for each valve so its either the module or the pump, or both.
So yes, I need a new ABS controller. Anyone got one?? Even if not working.
Ex850R
If no one else has I will when pull out.
But contact Voldat or Berry motor group, they have reco ones
ICEDVOVO
james is selling us his out of his 850r. Its the same type in tracs fitted vehicles like 850r and V70r & V70XC up to 2000
He replaced his with one from Voldat only to find it wasnt the module but a sensor instead.

FYI, the models you refer to are P80 series. From 94 to 2000,(2001/2 the C70 model)
Although some parts are not interchangeable from early 850 and whether turbo or NA dependent. Like the early abs and ecu system.
And obvious cosmetic changes.
ICEDVOVO
And Vida not always entirely comprehensive on part numbers. I seems there are some parts that do actually fit other models. I am picking up an ABS unit for an 96 850 model that is coming out of a

James' old module from his "glebe" 850R has fixed the problem.
Many thanks James.

I know you already mentioned it, but I was having a similar issue, the last service I pulled all the sensors and cleaned them, no issues since, 2 on the drivers side were mankie
ICEDVOVO
Yeah, Poor James.
He'd just shelled out around $300 for a refurbed module only to find it wasn't the module; it was just a bad connection at the front right sensor. Only good outcome of that was that James sold us his old module which definitely works.
There's a good troubleshooting page on Mid West ABS website. Might save you a new ABS
www.midwest-abs.com/Troubleshooting.php.
Might also be a good idea that whenever doing brakes pull the sensor connections and give them and the ring segments a bit of a clean. Probably a good idea anyway to save damaging cables while working on brakes.

Midwest Abs are good guys to deal with.
ICEDVOVO
I noticed that's where you bought yours from Snoopy. That was my last resort failing finding a local one as its around $350 via Mid West . James had already done the solder reflow on his and we were happy to trust his good handiwork.
