Hey all.
So got a small issue with the 264 and wondering if this is something that is common for the 200 series or if ive got a weak point somewhere.
While driving at higher speeds, say 80+ the car doesnt hold a straight line very well. Ill be holding the stearing wheel and it will start to pull either to the left or right intermittently. Not by much but enough that correction is needed. Also when the weight shifts to the front under hard breaking i can feel side to side instability in the stearing.
Would this be in the stearing shaft or a worn rack or perhaps the wheel alignment is a bit off?
Cheers.

Assuming that 264 steering is the same as 240 steering.
Check to see if the rack is still held down firmly - their should be a couple of quite small U-Bolts that bolt into the crossmember that might want to be tightened up.
I *Think* mine came loose from turning the wheel when parked to put the steering lock on.

Just get someone to wiggle the steering wheel whilst someone else looks around to see where the play is.
Could be lots of things, worn inner rack end, outer rack end, etc. The one that stumped me for awhile on my car was the u-joints on the steering shafted were buggered.
I have notice that even when everything is in good order, with wider tyres and very little toe in/toe out, 240's tend to wander a bit on the road.
