My 122 with an 82*"thermostat gets to 94* on a stinking hot day, running two gauges, the stock mechanical one and an electronic on at the front of the head near the thermostat. I have my thermofan controller to turn on at 65* as the engine has opened the thermostat and there is rising heat already in the radiator, I had it at 75* but found it was getting too hot in traffic.
I have an aftermarket gauge that is connected to a sensor in the upper radiator hose. Did what Nick said and went back to the stock clutch fan and he was right it ran much cooler didn't get higher than 82
