Went to get a Unregistered Vehicle Permit for one of my cars on Friday, only to discover it is (now) a Stat Write Off.
As best as I can figure out, this is the time line:
2012, car was listed as a Repairable Write Off;
2013, car was fixed, but not registered;
2015, I bought it;
2013~2017, car has has multiple UVPs from NSW RMS without trouble;
September 2017; car is now listed as a Stat Write Off.
It seems that it has fallen foul of the RMS policy to move RWO cars onto the SWO list if they haven't been cleared after a certain time.
I can prove it was repaired in 2013.
Am I fucked?
Is there a way out of this?

Who owned the vehicle when it was listed as an Economic write off?
Only they can apply to the RMS for permission to repair under the law now
Technically they should have asked for permission before repairing the car... but where the damage was minor... most inspectors will look the other way...
Also... there are specific exemptions for some types of hail and storm related damage
Which car is it?

The Mirage. ?
The car has a small dent in the LHS quarter, and apparently had some (cosmetic) front damage.
It was damaged, sold, fixed and turned into a rally car, rallied, sold to me, rallied, some more, and now things turn to pooh.

I don't need this shit two months before the Alpine.

Were you asking about it at Yass or Queanbeyan? ServiceNSW at Quangers have been super helpful to me and can probably give you exact timeline and what can be done.

I (currently, temporarily) have an inside line at Yass RMS. Even the mighty Karen was trying to help on Friday, but to no avail.
We knew very little of the story on Friday, not how much it will change now we think that we know more.

Ah, cool, proper crappy situation then. Is rally rego a thing in NSW yet?
Philia_Bear
Thought about just swapping the vin plate with another mirage?
If its only EVER going to have UVP for rally use, it will never be inspected by a cop and no one will really care
Its only if its going to have full rego will they care and with the UVP you can always use the excuse (if you own like 5 of them) that you got the vin numbers mixed up and its just been the one you used for donkeys ages without realizing it

Was trying to get a UVP, but got bounced because it couldn't get the CTP bit.
Swapping numbers is not an option because of the way the CAMS logbook ties into the number.
It does appear that my cheap rally car has transformed into an expensive khana car... :(

Time for new cams logbook?

Cage numbers bugger that up though right? Cage good enough to pass current spec if you de number it?

What William said. It probably will pass as a new cage, but only as a State level rather than National level cage. Probably doesn't matter, really.
Other option is to go back to plan #2487v2.5, and put the new cage into the good white shell, and build the white one as super Mirage. Then use the blue one as a rally cross car.
But time is against me.
Off to look at a Torana rally car now. ?
