One of my best mates was looking for a _good_ 240 a while back. Had the cash, and had an open mind about spec. After looking at far too many over priced shit boxes, he gave up.
240s ARE worth more than they were five years ago - but nothing like what the speculators and dreamers think they are.
The harsh reality is that 240s just don't have the factors behind them that push prices seriously up.
They aren't the car you lusted over as teenager. They haven't spent decades building a cult following. They aren't rare (especially relative to the number of people willing to pay proper money for them).
Having seen a lot of cars sky-rocket in value other the last 25 years, and others pretty much flat-line, my feeling is that 240s are at least ten years away from being on the profitable part of the demand vs supply curve. Probably more like fifteen years.
And with the future of petrol so uncertain, I would rate that as a very high risk.
