I've tried everything I can think of, I am sure there's someone out there more clever than me.
Aug 89 744T (MY 90?, Has CAM angle sensor on the bellhousing).
Is laid up but gets a monthly run up to full oil temp and fresh fuel etc.
Was low on fuel and left idling while after a short run then it stopped. I assumed fuel.
- Added 15L (shows 40%). No start. Pulled fuel hose after fuel Pressure regulator and it's pumping plenty.
- Swapped out Fuel pump relay just to be sure to be sure.
- Pulled a spark plug to confirm spark: yes.
- Definitely fuel in cylinder, can smell, if is wet and exhaust smells of unburnt fuel.
- Swapped ignition amplifier, fuel pressure regulator and ECU with known working units from running car (all from same year 245, same part numbers except ECU. ECU is still LH2.4, so shouldn't be an issue). No change.
- Swapped radio interference relay / fuel injection relay and confirmed pins at plug fully engaged.
- Swapped crank angle sensor and coil with known good units from a nice 940: still no start.
- disconnected AMM, no change, reconnected.
- Swapped a couple of spark plugs as they were a little sooty.
- Added "start ya bastard" to manifold: still no start, ya bastard!
Car has always been a start first turn and extremely good runner. One of the nicest 740t motors. I have spark and fuel and I am out of ideas. Cannot easily tow to my mechanic as she's in Little Hartley.
Doing oil change right now to get rid of the fuel contamination out of the sump, cranky.
If anyone can think of anything I haven't tried I'd love to hear.
