Thanks for the recommendation @ToomanyVolvos .
I will check out Lupica when the leak worsen. Did Lupica also source the replacement high pressure hose? If so do you remember approximately how much it was?
I found out online that the part number is 9463079 which replace 1330473. Dealer say the hose is no longer available and only one US site has stock and want $183 USD (pelican parts). Maybe Lupica stock old parts, has other channels or they just get a hydraulics hose guy to repair the existing hose?
It is much easier for LHD guys. They can get a hose from rock auto for about $30 USD.
@ramrod
My regular mechanic was a dealer mechanic for a Japanese brand for a few years. He then worked for a workshop in Artarmon for a few years and he opened his own workshop about 10 years ago. It is only a husband and wife team and wife is not a mechanic.
He has a rather shiny engine hoist. It sounded like he bought it for 1 job only, which perhaps has put him off doing more engine lift. Since he is in is mid 50s so I guess he prefers to do straight forward stuff like logbook service and light repairs where parts are readily available.
He is worried about stuff breaking when things are disassembled due to age. As such, I got a rather large ballpark estimate / worst case scenario similar to OP's asking price exclusive of hose refurbishment. Most of his customers have cars <10 years old so mine is probably the oldest. Therefore, this job is out of his comfort zone and he is not the most suitable guy for this job. He may come good but I rather go with someone more experienced. To use the docotor's analogy, he is a GP and what I needed is an orthopedic surgeon.
