Indeed, and more if you get stuck into the little odd things that break in an x70 body, plastic clips etc.
The assumption that a v70 has a rubbish auto only applies to a 99+ one that is a 5 speed auto. The 4 speed is exactly the auto as in any 850 and x70 up till 1998.
I agree with
@Philia_Bear that starting with a good one is the best bet.
Pay more then you know it is generally good and well loved, not flogged out.
You
may still need to spend cash on wear items and bits that just age and the owner doesn't notice and a repair shop won't bring to their attention as it will look like they are trying to rip them off for parts and labour. If you do all those parts you will notice a big improvement in performance and handling, basically a new car again. It is very satisfying I deed to learn how to fix those bits on your new car, knowing it will now last for a long time to come! Save cash on labour along the way!
You will find many threads on here on how to fix stuff or ask us all! We love a problem, mostly as it keeps the senile ones here brain's on the go.......
Keep us posted!
And, if a car comes up over here on the east coast, any number of us may look at if for you and could help with loading on a truck as transport isn't that bad especially for a great car.
Good luck!
