Danny Quick question, where do people get rear shocks for a 760 sedan with IRS? Or would anyone possibly have a set? 2nd hand would do if they are ok
Vee_Que You convert them to normal shocks and springs. Peddlers do a set of them to suit iirc. I have seen normal 740 shocks used as well. But definitely need to change the springs over.
Major Ledfoot Danny;6459 wroteQuick question, where do people get rear shocks for a 760 sedan with IRS? Or would anyone possibly have a set? 2nd hand would do if they are ok Oh, so you're after a pair of Nivomats. They're about $300 USD each, plus shipping. https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/volvo-shock-absorber-nivomat-740-745-760-960-wagons-170-472 Alternatively, you could do as @Vee_Que suggested and replace the Nivomats with conventional shocks and springs, which are different to the live axle springs. http://www.swedishbricks.net/700900FAQ/Nivomat%20Conversion1.html As Les suggested, @AshDVS may be able to help with parts there.
Vee_Que Danny;105584 wroteSo would that mean I just get a set of solid beam shocks and springs? Not the springs, they are different, but you can make the shocks work. I went through this year's ago with my irs 760
Spac Just to clarify: There are IRS Nivomat shocks, IRS non-Nivomat shocks, and live axle shocks. If you want to avoid the considerable cost of Nivomat shocks, then you will need to buy a pair of conventional (non-Nivomat) IRS shocks and matching springs.
Danny Ok cool. Where would I get the conventional IRS shocks from? Everywhere I contact seems to be a dead end
