Hi, new to Volvo world ( 3 days now after buying a 2nd hand Xc90 r design diesel )
Does anyone know how to fix the below
Radio goes out of tune if not in the cbd
Dash went blank yesterday for first time, turned off car, let sit for 10 minutes , then all ok for the next 500km on yesterday's mammoth day driving to Bathurst and back
Headlights- is there an option where you can turn them on by the switch , then once you turn the car off, they turn off too, I'm going mad trying to get it to work
Love the car, just need to get these things sorted,
Also anyone know of a reputable mechanic in the Wollongong area
Cheers Greg

1. Define out of tune? just really poor reception when you get outside of the city limits?
The antenna is located at the rear of the tailgate area and is an amplified antenna, if its not getting power for some reason the reception will be poor at best
2. Dash going blank? like your driving and all of the instruments just die and display nothing? was it just the dash or did many other things stop working?
3. Headlights - Set headlights to on (rotated all the way to the right), when key is removed from the ignition they will then turn off. If they are not turning off when the car turns off... the BCM (Body Control Model) has gone bad and could also explain issues 1-2

Thanks for the reply.
Just really bad service for the radio , nothing else wrong
The dash lights all went out, all guages to zero, everything else worked fine, could drive and do everything else
Tried the lights again , still same issue , won't go off,
Is the bcm something I could do myself

Stupid question
Have you tried checking to see if the lights dont turn off after 5minutes?
Some of them had an option to keep the lights on for a few minutes after you got home to keep the driveway lit while you walked up to the door and opened it
If they dont turn off after 5min then its borked
The bcm has to be codded into the car
Only 1 or 2 non volvo mechanics in all of australia can do it
gregai
Ok thanks , will give the lights a go

From memory, I think there is an option in the settings menu that is called home lights or similar - someone who has used an XC90 more recently will know more than I can remember as I've not used one for about 9 years now - check to see if that box is ticked or not.

Thanks , one thing I did forget to mention was that the srs airbag service urgent message came up straight after the dash came back on,

Something else came up, I looked around in the spare wheel compartment and found something that looked like a plug that clips onto the rear side windows in the third row, are these for to do with the radio.
Talk about learning on the fly!!
gregai
What I didn't mention is that both left and right windows are missing the same plug

The bloke that sold you the car (if private) a week or two ago would know all the answers. Thats why he sold it ???
gregai
You are probably right , just have to fix them now to get it right
gregai
Well, ordered a kit to fix the broken centre console, tick all done, i need a good set of torque screw bits, mine a shite, also ordered and received left and right Amplifiers for the radio which were bitten off by the last owners dogs, maybe they can tune into the radio because at the moment ours is kaka poo poo, hope to fix Saturday Morning , hopefully i don`t have to take too much of the car apart to do it, or break any plastic clips.
Has anyone ever replaced these and know how long it took.
Cheers
gregai
All done , easy as. No clips broken , removed the top two screws in plastic mould near headlining , then pulled off rear plastic cowling on rear pillar , need to pull out and up , then removed two 9mm bolts in plastic trim below rear side windows, prised off c pillar plastic trim, 10mm socket and amplifiers were out and replaced .
Radio works , took an hour only for both
