Ok so, b230ft from 740t on lh2.2 currently running 14psi.
Turbo is a t3 from an 87.
Runs nicely off boost and at cruise, pulls hard above 2500rpm but in between it's a bit of a pig.
Tends to surge a bit and feels like it's overfuelling (i.e. lifting off slightly will make it a bit nicer).
Fuel economy is also shithouse to put it lightly, getting about 15L/100km.
My main thought is timing, I think it's about 14 btdc, from memory stock is 12, what have people been getting away with on these?
MAF calibration shouldn't make a huge difference above idle should it?
Philia_Bear
MAF calibration affects everything from idle -> redline
15L/100 is pretty normal for a b230ft powered anything with LH2.2

I get 12l per hundred on my auto 740t wagon.... I'd make sure it is at that timing as the dizzy fails and will go full retard.

As above. Also check it is not running a chipped ECU.
You can test the AMM with a 12volt LED you don't need the resistors.

Crappy midrange was timing, I'd forgotten to tighten the dizzy properly when I last set it so it had wound right back to almost -20 degrees. Moved back up and 1000% improvement. Probably better economy as well, fuel gauge doesn't look to be moving as quick as before. Will get the AMM right also and see how that goes, does it need an led specifically or just a globe of some sort?
Vee_Que
Led light.
nickm
Yep Light Emitting Diode. It only lights up with the current running one way.

I understand what led's are and how they work, was just wanting to know if I specifically needed an led for this job and it seems I do.

Not meant to be condescending.
Sometimes threads are used as reference or lurked on. So being overly specific .. it can become a reliable resource.
You can use a digital multi meter on the O2 sensor. You will see it switch at the same rate the led would blink.

All good mate, was not being snarky just trying to save us all 4 pages discussing the merits and downsides of led's but it is good to know I specifically need one for this.
Good to know about the multi meter part, which wires should I be going between?
nickm
ground and the O2 sensor connector up on the firewall. Just follow it up
