I've recently picked up a 1987 245GL for wrecking. The car has estimated 280-300k on the clock, odo stopped at 195k. Body panels are all straight except for a couple of very small dents in the tailgate, no rust, clear coat is stuffed. Tan interior is a mixed bag, but some parts are in quite good shape.
I drove the car 2.5 hours to my place and aside from a worn clutch it went very well, the engine is smooth and certainly not lacking power. It has slight piston slap at idle but is fine as soon as you rev it.
Unless any of my plans change, I will be be keeping the following parts for use on my projects, so they won't be available:
M47.
Tailshaft.
Flywheel.
Rear end, depending on ratio (I have others).
Front swaybar.
Alternator (Have others).
Gauge cluster.
Distributor.
Complete LH2.2 fuel system.
Wiper motor (Have others).
Central locking system.
Battery.
The following parts have been sold, I will keep updating this list:
All cargo area side and floor interior panels.
Upper rear seat, base still available.
Glovebox lid.
Front seatbelts.
Pedal box, clutch hydraulics.
Power steering pump, rack, lines, steering shaft.
Gearbox crossmember.
Pretty much everything else is available for sale or trades, some highlights are:
Smaller type steering wheel.
Later type seatbelts all in good condition.
Tyres with lots of tread.
7 seater setup including seatbelts etc. in excellent condition.
Rear skirt below bumper, hasn't been butchered to fit a towbar!
AC compressor in working condition.
Front lip in good condition with tow hook cover.
Good centre brake light.
Later type plastic battery tray.
Locking fuel cap with 2x keys.
A few parts are faulty or busted; headlight reflectors, clock, RH tail light, heater fan is noisy, door pockets gone, handbrake console assploded.
