Ghettobird Hi all Im after a set of uprated swaybars for my 850R IPD would be mad, but im open to different ideas... not that there is a whole lot out there for these things =/ Thanks! Julian
Ex850R Can any place here make them for a not crazy price at all? I know places here are disappearing though. @AshDVS ?
Ex850R Philia_Bear;84851 wroteFix the spring & shock rates and forget about bars Would solid adjustable links for the swsybars be good too?
Ghettobird Its got IPD springs all round and @Ex850R's old Koni yellow fronts and reds in the rear I fear my current bar may be either: Not be there Be broken Is shit
Anthony Best to investigate the situation as these sports models don't have much body roll in my experience. They corner amazingly flat. A lot of the forces are pressed into the low profile tyres, hence buy good ones.
AshDVS Often Nivomat cars do not come from the factory with a rear swaybar (there are exceptions). If you're looking at a good handling upgrade for a road car, H&R, Eibach, Weitec (part of KW) offer some good spring options. These work well with a decent shock absorber package (Bilstein B6, Koni Sport Adj, etc). However, if you're moving away from Nivomats, you'll need to change to non-nivomat rear strut mount and its a good idea to fit a rear bar if your vehicle doesnt have one. Best to leave the front bar alone, unless you have a locker (even then, it's a good topic for debate) but a rear bar is important to bring some balance back. A bar from a non-R model is better than no bar. A 23-25mm rear bar (depending on brand) works well with the stock R front bar.
Ex850R Iirc , Ben was doing delrin bushes for the rear deltalink somewhere , on their racecar for now.
AshDVS Factory delta-link bushes have a good service life. We only replaced the outers on our V70 and it'd done 288k at that point. Inners were ok while every other bush in it (except for subframe bushes) needed replacing.
Ex850R I keep forgetting about the outer one , that's a usual suspect I imagine , hard to get out it unlucky. Is there any place that still makes bars now , a spring works type place? What would a bar cost?
paulanderson The rear swaybar in my 850R sheared on the plate section (too many dirt roads where we used to live) and unable to find a suitable replacement when we were O/S, my mechanic just left it off until he managed to source one. I think he's forgotten as that was three years ago... Still handles like a go cart but I will replace it one day.
