That looks pretty damn solid! How's the NVH?
  • Impressive! Looks like the engine is sitting lower and a little further back., maybe an inch?

    Interesting. Tuff mount style.

NVH. Idk. Mate has similar in 10 sec SR powered escort and says they are good, but I'll have to wait till it's started..still a ways off. Going to get radiator/ cooler mounted then manifolds. Its about 20 mm off the firewall as have modded the gearbox mount about 40mm back from the B20 position. The height is about the same as what the B20 was. Which is sump about 10 mm from the cross member if you know what I mean.

Oh, harmonic balancer now fits easily behind sway Bar so don't have to move it buy have to get the drive shaft shortened. Toyotavbox behind it. Old Steel case Celica do not sure how long it'll last but was a good box behind the b20.

You should combine this into your cars thread! Any pics of the rest?
  • Steel case celicas are solid for a fair bit of torque and power

I Will eventually vq. Heaps to do still. Have photos of lots but .... Steel case Celica suposed to be good for 250 hp. I'm hoping for closer to 400 in the end so we will see how long it lasts

Wait until the box blows, then put a strengthened gearset t5 in there. Cheap easy :D
  • Back in the late 80s I detonated a Celica box with a NA B20 which had about 180 BHP. not sure how much torque. It lasted about a month in the car. If you're going to put 400 BHP through it, you can use a stopwatch to measure the box life.

What are the engine and ecu and turbo specs for your power level?
  • guruguru @guru Gold coast
The Celica box has been behind a well worked b20 for some years( in that car) without an issue. Not much more I could do to that motor ,and gearbox is still strong. Understand how its going to end, but you can break Supra boxes also if you're harsh, but I'll let you know. How long it lasts. Basically I have the box, clutch and flywheel alread. Gt3582.. computer us last thing I'll buy. Manifold's coming Next

    That's the plan

Sounds like fun, a stock 93 on b230ft will handle 300hp easily, being a squirter block and the later rods, with a good ecu. Earlier ones don't fare as well. Mostly due to age.

  • I definitely want to try this. When the world is no longer quarantined.
