UltimateDave I know it's not a volvo, but I was wondering if anyone was interested in buying my 1988 Jaguar XJ-6. It has the 3.6L straight six in it. It's got a bit of rust here and there but nothing too bad. It's not registered but is mechanically good. The brakes are a bit weak so they may need work and the selector is weird going into some gears and one of the exhaust pipes is drooping. The passenger window doesn't go up very well but the rest (including the sunroof) work fine. All generally small things that don't take much to fix. It has some small hail damage but nothing major, some small bits of the interior could do with some TLC. The headlights it has are rare and were never sold here (It was imported from britan back in 91) and the British racing green color is desirable. I can drive it to anywhere in QLD. Looking for $3000. Great for someone wanting a Jaguar or just a Classic. (Sorry for the terrible photos, will get some better ones soon)
morgan Think $5000 is pushing it you can pick up xj40 cheaply as there not as desirable as xj6 . Apart from maybe the last 4.0 ones , even then 5-6 will get you a mint Australian delivered one with rwc and everything working . They cost so much to restore I would say it would be worth closer to 2-3 g . But good luck with the sale
UltimateDave From what I've seen on the market a mint condition one in QLD on gumtree is 7-9k, but then there's also ones that get down to 2.5k that SEEM in ok condition. So I'm unsure of the proper pricing.
Slowbrick The engines in these scare me. I was seriously considering getting an XJ40 in Tasmania to do our road trip in but the idea of fixing that scared me beyond belief. It would have been super comfy but i would be nervous the whole time! Really nice cars but not for the faint of heart. GLWS!
UltimateDave Well there's nothing wrong about this one that would be too costly to fix, although getting it to tasmania would be a problem. I'll be uploading more photos tomorrow if you're interested.
jamesinc Hey Dave, as this isn't Volvo related I've moved it to the RADAR section of the trading post.
Vee_Que I have one, already was stripped for bits. I don't fit unfortunately. Rust is common and honestly will knock the value down. The headlights aren't that uncommon though. Darren thinks they are worth nothing but is happy to wait years to sell a car above market value himself.
morgan No worth nothing I had a series 3 for years but getting quotes for things like fixing rust , hail damage and interior work was phenomenal
UltimateDave Alright, got some better photos. Honestly would be best for someone who can do the work themselves for a quick and easy restoration.
