@Major Ledfoot (consider abbreviating plz! lol) - Don't think it's a manual unit as it was bought to replace the leaking heater core by the guy who sold the red 740 to me which probably makes it Climate control. Is there a way to tell the difference between auto vs manual HVAC? Isn't the fan built in the HVAC? The auto shifter trim is divided at the top (closest to engine) which I think is normal however the bottom section seems snapped...will re-confirm later today.
1. Try bgp. ;)
2. There are 3 types of HVAC
controls with A/C in 7xx:
- manual system (has
two control levers and a rotary fan switch) (note - the 9xx manual system
is different - I don't know if they'll swap straight into a 7xx with manual controls - what do you say
@Vee_Que ?)
- ATC (has
a temp thumb-wheel and 1 control lever - no fan switch)
- ECC (the latest model -
has 3 knobs for fan / vent / temperature, and 2 pushbutton switches for recirc and A/C)
The difference in the HVAC units themselves can be seen in this pic - note the ATC unit has a program controller at [24] - the manual one doesn't... and oh, btw, this is the LHD version - as are most diagrams in Volvo parts catalogs.
<p>
3. The heater fan appears to be removed from your HVAC unit (see [23] and [26] in diagrams). Do you have a spare working one?
4. Yup; they have a gap at the top so you can fit the auto gear lever though them. :P Hopefully you'll have a chance to check if it's otherwise okay after Friday Nite Hangouts
