I want to change the cam in the B230F in my 240. I guess it has an M cam at the moment.
I want to use a genuine cam. I have a V cam I could put in it, and I know where I can get an H or K cam.
What should I try?

Is it still auto? Will you be driving it to redline all the time and racing everyone off the lights? If so, k cam is the best compromise for an auto. Otherwise. A t cam would give better torque..

The V is a good cam, 96kW or something in the B230E. As you already have it, use it.

As Vee_Que says, Auto/Manual and grandpa/thrasher ?
I have an auto and drive like a grandpa. I bought a 740 with the B230F/AW70 and hated it (coming from a manual B23E). Drive it for 15,000 and put an iPd VX cam in it and hated it a bit less, drove it for 15,000 and put a DVS adjustable cam gear on it to advance the cam and hated it a bit less again. After another 15,000 last friday I put a T cam in with the factory timing and I'm back in love with the car. No so much scream up top, but much more down low where I use it and a much better shove off the line.
I drove a B23E with K cam and M46 for 18 years, and I loved it. It was a screaming rev-monster. But it'd be pretty average with an auto box.
Changing a cam is relatively easy. Experiment. I'm thinking of trying an A cam next if I can find a slotted one for the right price, just because I've heard its still torquey but with some more top end. I should just bite the bullet and t+, but changing cams is cheap and easy. I can slip $150 for a cam past the wife. A t+ kit would be a bit more of a hard sell.

Manual, It will get driven pretty hard. Also I have a 3.73 diff with M47. I think I'll try the V cam, My dad also has a T cam, so I might see if I can use that. Should I get an adjustable cam gear?

I wouldn't recommend the T cam with a manual. You want something more fun. The T is nice around town, but runs out of puff up where a manual starts to get fun.
For me the adj cam gear was to try and bring the torque down the revs to where it is useable for the AW70. I wouldn't need to do that with a manual. I can say that the K cam with the manual was a blast. I had a H cam in a 79 GT for a little while and that was fun too, but the K was a bit better mannered.
You already have the V, so try than and see how you like it. Don't listen to the muppets on Turbobricks, and *do* check the valve clearances when you swap the cam. Most of the time you can get lucky and not need to adjust it, but sometimes you will. Practically anything is an improvement on the M cam.
I loved my K cam, and the iPd VX was an attempt to get that sort of fun back. Big mistake with an Auto though.

Cool, I'll try the V cam, And I'll check the valve clearances, hopefully they'll be OK. I Don't listen to the muppets on Turbobricks anyway :p

K or GTFO. V is lame compared to a K. Get a K and rev to the sky!

Haha lol. I'll try the V for now, and later I'll buy a K and try it.
