Take a obd2 reader. Or at least check the engine and trans light light... up light . apart from that I think they are ok.

Assume it will need $2k in parts to make right when offering a price
Unless owner can prove all of the following done in the last 24 months or less
PCV/Front suspension/Cap/Rotor/Leads/Plugs/O2/heater core/Timing kit/WP

I was definitely going to take my scan tool just to be on the safe side lol, apparently it has a full service history like all the log books and all the receipts for everything that was done to it but i will keep updated on wether ill get it , it seems ok so far from the pics and speaking to the guy about it but will see in a couple of hours

Thats actually a pretty good guide and a safe assumption to make if unsure.

Yeah it is the first things ill be surely doing will be the timing belt and water pump to eliminate any issues there and a good service silly buying a car and not atleast doing an oil change haha

Mike's guide is pretty much dead on. I went through the same thing with my T5 after i bought it although mine had a crap service history but was only 1k

As with a 17 YO+ car there is bound to be various maintenance hardware requiring attention.
Dash switch gear, power steering pump, TRACS module, vacuum hoses, PCV crankcase system are additional items that are often neglected/subject to wear and tear.
Love the p80 C70's factory speaker sound system, heated front seats.

I ended up buying it ill post pics of it tonight after i get home from work, the car looked to be in quite a good condition the guy showed me all the log books and what work had been done to it over the years up until just 6 months ago the timing belt was done about 20k k's ago only thing that i could fault with it was the slight missfire but seems like a dodgy plug no unusual noises and everything inside seems to work except for one of the seat switches

Good work! Hopefully it works out for you!

Do you need any parts or interior bits? Im slowly wrecking a 98 C70 also with a beige interior
Rob

Ghettobird
Beige interior with metalic black paint
phonsa
Nice colour and wheel combo.

Yeah i was quite content with the colour when i saw it a good detailing with make it come up a bit nicer

Change the Thermostat asap. They don't always get done with the timing belt, but they do fail.
Ghettobird
Check your heater core also - Mine failed due to a stuck thermostat and caused me a whole lot of shit

Alright shall do im getting the car towed this weekend so i shall check and change the thermostat and check the core are they hard to get to the heater cores on these i know my 740 was a challenge lol..
